Brooks Park/South End Park Murals
Highland Arts Unlimited Mural Committee would like to thank all those involved in mounting 4 murals at the South End Park, Keyser. Working with Keyser High School art teacher, TJ Connor, 4 designs were selected from art student’s submissions. These amazing murals were painted with Chroma Mural Paint donated by Chroma Inc., sealed with UV Varnish donated by Golden Paint. Special thanks go to City of Keyser, Jennifer Junkins, Jim Hannas, Street Supervisor, and his crew for all their help in getting the murals on the park’s amphitheater shell. Thanks to the US Wind Force Foundation grant, generosity of 84 Lumber in Keyser, and the sale of an original painting by Jill Baldinger using Chroma Mural Paint, the project became a reality.

Museum

Local artist, Jill Baldinger, created a mural for the waste container at the Mineral County Historical Museum. Funded by the Community Arts Projects Committee of Highland Arts Unlimited, it highlights the Twin Mountain Railroad that transported apples and peaches from ridgetop orchards in Burlington to Keyser on a small grade track.

Highland Arts Unlimited Public Art Committee has joined with the Save the Pool Committee, Energy Express, and Art House Tuesdays to create a fun “fishy” mural at the Keyser pool. Supplies were provided by a grant from the Wind Force Foundation. With the help of Craig Westfall II. and all the teachers at Energy Express, the idea was to have the kids draw all kinds of fish. Then local artists from the Art House Tuesdays at The Indie on Main took those images and expanded on them. Some new images have been painted on the outer walls of the pool building as of July 28th and more images will be painted in the future. Lynn Robinson and Missy Cummins, from the Save the Pool committee, were excited to see the designs for the pool walls.
Artists involved in the project are Dea Clayton, Stephen Settimi, Hosanna and Anastasis Barrett, Katrina Westfall, and Jill Baldinger. Not shown are Lisa and Audrey Rogers, Anna Dolly, Sherri Heare.
